Troy sophomore catcher Brooks Bryan has accepted an invitation to join the 2024 USA Baseball Collegiate National Training Camp.
Bryan joins a 56-man roster of non-draft eligible players on the team. The training camp features 56 of the top non-draft eligible college players in the country for a two-game Stars vs. Stripes intrasquad series in North Carolina June 26-27. USA Baseball will then select the final National Team rosters, which will play in a Summer League Tour and International Friendship Series.
“Brooks has earned the right to wear the USA uniform with his performance this year,” Troy Coach Skylar Meade said. “It is the highest honor you can have as an underclassmen in college baseball, and I’m sure – like always – Brooks will rise to the challenge.”
Bryan set the Troy single season RBI record this season at Troy and earned All-Sun Belt honors along with being named a Semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy.
The Opelika native was a member of the Troy Post 70 summer league team that won an American Legion World Series Championship in 2022. He boasted a .279 batting average this season with 10 doubles, three triples, 18 home runs, 85 RBIs, 52 runs and a .589 slugging percentage. Defensively, he held a .989 fielding percentage with 245 putouts, 20 assists and three double plays.
The players that are selected to be a part of the official U.S. National Team roster for the International Friendship Tour will face off against Chinese Taipei in a five-game series, while the players selected for the Summer League Tour will take on teams from the Appalachian League and Coastal Plain League in a four-game series. Those two National Team rosters will then face off in a Fourth of July game in Fayetteville, NC.
