Each year the Troy Exchange Club awards the Book of Golden Deeds Award. This award is awarded to people who volunteer their time to help our community, but receive little recognition. A commemorative plaque is given to the winner.
The recipient this year is Brenda M. Peacock. Brenda started working in the Pike County Circuit Clerk’s Office in High School.
In 1988, she ran for the position of circuit clerk and was the first woman elected countywide. She served in this position until 2010 when she retired.
She then felt led to be a vessel to get donations for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Through her painting and sewing skills she made items for sale for proceeds to be donated to St. Jude. This is a very heartwarming mission for Brenda as well as a lifetime mission.
The Exchange Club also donated a check for $150 to help support St. Jude. Pictured with Brenda is Jerry Beckett, president, and Dr. Edward Merkel, chairman of the Book of Golden Deeds Committee. Members of the Troy Exchange Club thanked Brenda for all she does to support this wonderful mission.
