Independent Banker magazine, the award-winning monthly publication of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), today unveiled its sixth annual 40 Under 40: Community Bank Leaders list and Troy Bank and Trust’s Christy Wilson made the cut.
The award recognizes community bank innovators, collaborators, educators, strategists, advisors, and civic servants. Christy Wilson, Assistant Vice President and Compliance Officer at Troy Bank and Trust, was named to this year’s list.
“ICBA congratulates Christy Wilson on this well-deserved recognition,” ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey said. “Christy exemplifies the talent, dedication, and community spirit that define our industry. We commend her outstanding contributions and look forward to her continued growth and success as a community bank leader.”
The feature story in the June issue of Independent Banker highlights how the 40 Under 40 honorees have navigated challenges and remained innovative while staying true to the guiding principles that make community banking special. Chosen from hundreds of entries, candidates were judged on their character, leadership, community involvement, and innovation. Bank technology services provider FIS, of Jacksonville, Fla., sponsored this year’s program.
“Being named to ICBA Independent Banker’s 40 Under 40: Community Bank Leaders List, alongside so many remarkable peers, is a tremendous honor,” said Wilson. “As a proud community banker, I am grateful for the opportunity to positively impact the lives of my neighbors, who live and work here in Pike County alongside my colleagues at Troy Bank and Trust.”
Wilson, her husband Matt, and their two children live near Banks in Pike County. During her 15 years in banking, which began at First National Bank of Brundidge, she has served in a variety of different roles including customer service, marketing, loan review, BSA, and consumer compliance.
In addition, she created the bank’s Money Matter$ program. This is a financial scholars program aimed at helping improve financial literacy in the community by educating students and adults about money management. Wilson also plays a vital role in coordinating the bank’s annual Banking on a Cure blood drive, which helps bring awareness and funding to childhood cancer.
“We are pleased that Christy Wilson has been recognized as one of ICBA’s 40 under 40. It is an honor to have co-workers like Christy. We are thankful to Christy for her work for the bank, the example she sets for everyone, and the service she provides for Troy Bank & Trust and the communities we serve. ICBA has recognized what we knew all along.” stated Mr. Kervin, President and CEO.
