American Legion Post 145 in Brundidge donated a large charcoal grill to Serenity Lodge, in Brundidge on Thursday.

Chance Graham, post commander, said Serenity Lodge is home to several veterans and Post 145 wants to let them know that neither they nor their service has been forgotten.

“We don’t want to ever forget those who left their families and their homes to go and protect the freedoms we have continuing here in America today,’ Graham said. “At American Legion Post 145, we will not forget and want them to know that their service is and will be remembered.”

Veteran D.W. Senn said, the D-Day operation of June 6, 1944, brought together the land, air and sea forces of the allied armies in what became known as the largest amphibious invasion in military history. Almost 133,000 troops from the United States, the British commonwealth and their allies landed on the beaches on D-Day. Casualties from these countries during the landing numbered 10,300.

“We can’t forget them; neither can we forget those who have served –  our veterans, who came home, and those who are at ‘home,’” said Neil Thrasher. “American Legion Post 145 will not forget.”
