Troy University javelin thrower Cole Stewart has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team Trials.
Stewart is an Auburn native that earned All-Sun Belt honors in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Stewart won the gold at the SBC Outdoor Track and Field Championships earlier this year, earning a career best throw of 73.75 meters in the process, which also ranked as the second longest throw in school history.
His throw at the SBC Championships was the 17th longest throw in the entire country in 2024, which qualified him for the U.S. Olympic Tack and Field Team Trials. He joins a field of 24 competitors who have qualified for the trials and is the only Sun Belt athlete to qualify.
Stewart will compete in the Olympic Trials on June 21 in the qualifying round in Eugene, Ore., with a chance to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team.
