Just how long the City of Brundidge has celebrated the Fourth of July with a downtown, main street parade, no one is exactly sure.
However, Brundidge has a long and storied history of parades, with Fourth of July/Independence Day parades high on the list.
“The City of Brundidge has hosted parades at Christmas, on patriotic holidays, when our National Guard was activated and when our men came home, and when our ball teams won state championships,” said Brundidge Mayor Isabell Boyd. “And we have long celebrated the Fourth of July in recognition of becoming and remaining a free and independent nation.”
Boyd said everyone is invited to participate in the 2024 Fourth of July Parade in downtown Brundidge at 1 p.m. Saturday.
“Those who want to parade, whether it’s on a float, in a classic car or on a bicycle, are encouraged to be a part of the Brundidge Fourth of July Parade,” Boyd said. “Those who would rather view the parade are encouraged to wear red, white and blue and/or wave flags.”
Boyd said Brundidge remains a main street town where people know and care about each other.
