The Troy Trojans were picked to finish in second place in the Sun Belt Conference West Division by the league’s coaches, which was announced on Monday.

Troy earned 14 first place votes, while Texas State was picked to finish first with nine first place votes. Louisiana was the only other team to earn a first place vote. Appalachian State was picked to finish first in the East Division with 12 votes.

The Sun Belt also released its Preseason All-Sun Belt team with three Trojans earning preseason honors. Senior offensive lineman Daniel King was the only Troy player to earn first-team honors, while junior center Eli Russ and senior punter Robert Cole was named to the second-team.

The Sun Belt is holding its annual Sun Belt Media Days in New Orleans, La., this week. Troy’s representatives will meet with the media on Wednesday. New head coach Gerad Parker along with Russ and linebacker Jordan Stringer will represent Troy at Media Days.
