Charles Henderson High School has rechristined the basketball court at Betty Wagner Gymnasium as Carl Hollis Court.
Hollis was a star basketball player at Troy – graduating as the all-time leading scorer in school history – and was inducted into the Troy University Sports Hall of Fame last year. In 1980s and 1990s, Hollis served as an assistant basketball coach at CHHS before becoming head coach in 1996.
Hollis went on to serve as head coach at CHHS for 21 years, leading his teams to 11 area championships with four Final Four appearances and three Elite 8 appearances. Hollis was one of current CHHS head coach Tim Fayson’s coaches during his high school career.
Fayson said that CHHS would hold a formal ceremony to honor Hollis during basketball season, the first the Trojans will officially play on Carl Hollis Court.
