Over the weekend, Troy University graduate Vincent Hancock earned the gold medal in the men’s skeet finals at the Paris Olympics.
The win marks Hancock’s fourth Olympic gold medal after also taking the gold in skeet shooting in 2008, 2012 and 2021. Hancock is just the fourth U.S. athlete to win individual goal in the same event four separate times.
Hancock, an Eatonton, Ga., native, graduated from Troy University in 2014 with a degree in business management. Hancock, though, has been a champion skeet shooter since the age of 16 when he won his first World Championship at the ISFF World Shooting Championships. Since that time, Hancock has won four individual world championships and two team world championships along with an individual runner-up and team runner-up. He’s also won gold three times at the Pan-American Games and one at the World Cup. He has become one of the most decorated skeet shooters in the history of the sport.
Hancock was also a sergeant in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Distinguished International Shooter Badge.
Hancock hit his last 26 shots in the finals to secure the gold. Hancock’s main rival in the finals was also a U.S. shooter, Conner Lynn Prince, who Hancock coached.
