On Aug. 13, Quintin Woods, of Troy, was convicted for a 2023 home burglary in Troy.
According to a news release from 12th Judicial Circuit (Pike-Coffee County) District Attorney James Tarbox, testimony and evidence presented at Woods’ trial showed that on March 15, 2023, Woods made forcible entry into a home in the Oak Park Neighborhood off Elba Highway in Troy. According to evidence presented at the trial, Woods broke a window and entered the home through the kitchen.
Upon hearing the window break, the victim made her way into the kitchen and found the defendant. The victim and a friend, who was at home with the victim, were able to hold the defendant at gunpoint and call for law enforcement. Law enforcement arrived a short time later and the defendant was arrested.
According to Tarbox, Woods is a multi-time convicted felon with prior violent felonies on his record. The State of Alabama intends to ask the court to sentence Woods “to a substantial prison sentence.”
“I appreciate the work of ADAs Locklier and Coots on this case. Due to their work and the jury’s conviction, justice will be served in this case,” Tarbox said. “The District Attorney’s Office appreciates every juror in this case for fulfilling their civic duty and attentively listening throughout the proceedings. Lastly and most importantly, I appreciate our victim in this matter.
“She has lived through an experience that as ADA Locklier said in his closing argument, she will never forget. Her bravery on the night of March 15, 2023, and her continued desire to see Defendant Woods brought to justice have helped lead to this guilty verdict outcome.”
A sentencing hearing for Woods has been scheduled for Oct. 17 at the Pike County Judicial Complex.
