The Troy Trojans opened the 2024 soccer season with a 2-1 win over Eastern Washington at home on Thursday.
With the game tied 1-1, Troy’s Delaney Wells scored on a corner kick 77:46 into the contest for what would end up as the game-winner for the Trojans. Baylor transfer Georgia Mulholland scored Troy’s other goal, her first collegiate goal of her career.
“I was shocked,” Mulholland said. “This was my first collegiate game, and it’s also a new position for me. I came from playing center-back to outside-mid. I’m just really excited.”
Danielle Trovato assisted on the wining goal, while Kat Vassilounis assisted Mulholland’s goal. At goalie, Unie Georgsen played all 90 minutes with five saves and one goal allowed.
Troy his the road on Aug. 22 for a matchup with Mercer before heading to Birmingham to face Samford on Aug. 25 and UAB on Aug. 29.
