His weekend, former Troy Trojan Aamer Muhammad signed a contract to play professional basketball with BC Barsy Atyrau in Kazakhstan.
Muhammad was a two-year star for Troy after transferring from Lubbock Christian prior to the 2022-2023 season. In two years with the Trojans, he totaled 700 points and average more than 10 points in both of his seasons. He averaged 10.8 points, 2.2 assists, 2.3 rebounds and one steal per game during his Troy career. He earned preseason All-Sun Belt honors as a senior.
“We are super excited to hear the great news that Aamer is going to be playing professionally in Kazakhstan for BC Barsy Atyrau,” head coach Scott Cross said. “Aamer deserves this great opportunity, as he has consistently worked to become a professional basketball player. I am very thankful for all that he did for our basketball program. He helped us win 40 games over the last two years, and I still remember his performance against Florida State in 2022 when he helped lead us to victory. I look forward to watching Aamer do great things this season!”
BC Barsy Atyrau is located in the Kazakhstan city of Atyrau and plays in the Balkan League and also competes for the Kazakhstan Basketball Championship. The team has won two Kazakhstan Basketball Championships in its history and is also a two-time winner of the Kazakhstan Basketball Cup.
Muhammad is the second Trojan to sign a professional contract after Christyon Eugene signed with CS Rapid Bucuresti in Romania earlier this month.
