The Pike Lib Patriots (3-0, 1-0) host the Luverne Tigers (0-2, 0-0) in a Class 2A, Region 3 game this Friday, Sept. 13.
Last week, Pike Lib won its third straight game to start the season 40-0 over Calhoun. Michael Vaughn, Jackson Bowen and Dalton Jordan each scored touchdown runs, while Dawson Bradford threw a 20-yard score to Rhodes Baker. Jackson Mitchell also returned a fumble for a touchdown in the win.
Pike has outscored its opponents 115-6 this season with back-to-back shutouts in the last two weeks.
Luverne is coming off a bye week last week but started the season off with back-to-back losses to Class 1A’s Elba and Brantley. Luverne lost 50-22 in week one to Elba and then lost 40-24 to Brantley in week two.
This will be the first matchup all-time between Luverne and Pike. Pike is currently tied for first place in the region with Goshen and Highland Home, while every other team in the region has zero wins thus far.
