Troy University Athletics Director of Development Steven Voss spoke to the Troy Rotary Club about supporting the Trojans in a variety of endeavors.
Voss joined the athletics staff in June this year after serving a year as an assistant in the daily operations of the Bulldog Club at Mississippi State University. Voss was a 2023 graduate of the University of Cincinnati.
“Coming to Troy has been nothing short of special,” Voss told the Rotary Club. “I think this is a very unique area, in that coming from Cincinnati, coming from Starkville, Troy stands out. The community is closer, the people are nicer. …
“Troy has what other schools and other athletic departments strive for. And that’s having an active community behind it. … That’s something schools fight for, scratch and claw for. But in Troy it comes naturally.”
Voss said one of his responsibilities is to oversee Trojan Warrior Fund for all sports. He said his job is to make sure that Troy’s student-athletes are taken care of. Voss said he is also involved in fundraising for the athletic department.
He urged Rotarians to support the Trojans during an upcoming, three game homestand. Troy will host Florida A&M on Sept. 21, the University of Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 28 and Texas State on Oct. 3.
In addition, he said basketball season is on the horizon and season and single-seat tickets are now on sale. The Trojans’ Tip Off Banquet is scheduled for late October.
