The Pike County Bulldogs (1-2, 1-1) are back at home this Friday, Sept. 20, as they welcome the Ashford Yellow Jackets (2-2, 2-0) to Brundidge for a Class 4A, Region 2 showdown.
Pike County is coming off a frustrating 16-0 loss to Opp last week after amassing less than 80 total yards of offense in the contest and being shut out for the first time this regular season.
Meanwhile, Ashford is coming off back-to-back region wins over Dale County and Geneva. The Jackets throttled Geneva 44-7 last week. Ashford opened the season with a 36-29 double overtime loss to Rehobeth and also lost 54-6 to Cottonwood in week two.
Ashford is currently tied for first place in the region with Opp and Pike County is one of four teams with a 1-1 region record. A win here would be a big step in the playoff hunt for the Bulldogs.
Pike County holds a 16-13 all-time record over Ashford, including a 28-13 win last season. Pike County has won the last three matchups between the two schools. Pike County and Ashford first met in 1959, a 10-7 Bulldog win.
Pike County and Ashford will kickoff at 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium in Brundidge.
