The Brasilis String Quartet will perform at the Johnson Center for the Arts at 6:30 tonight (Tuesday) and will be hosted by the Troy Arts Council.

Tickets are $20 for adults and may be purchased online at troyartscouncil.net or at the door). Tickets are free for elementary school through university students. 

Maggie Hammond, Troy Arts Council president, said The Brasilis String Quartet was officially formed in 2022.

It started when a few friends, mostly from Brazil, who had the opportunity to meet in Memphis. The quartet later decided to explore repertoire from Brazilian composers and eventually expand it to Latin American composers, Hammond said.

The Brasilis String quartet features Noel Medford, violin, USA; Eddie Bolden III, violin, USA; Amaro Dubois, viola, Brazil and Roberta dos Santos, cello, Brazil.

The Brasilis String Quartet has been giving performances around Memphis and recently presented a concert at the Green Room at Crosstown Arts. The “ Green Room” offers flexible, acoustically treated space where high-quality music performances are showcased using state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment.

In addition to performing concerts across the United States, The Brasilis  String Quartet also provides workshops and masterclasses as tools to inspire and provide a better future for the younger generations of musicians.

The Brasilis String Quartet members are proud to share their passion for Latin American music and celebrate living composers, Hammond said and invites all who enjoy outstanding string music to the JCA for the Brasilis String Quartet concert tonight.
