Pike Lib thumps Notasulga on homecoming

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots (6-1) celebrated homecoming with a bang on Friday, throttling the Notasulga Blue Devils (1-4) by a score of 35-6.
Pike Lib wasted no time jumping out to a lead as Jackson Mitchell scored on a 22-yard run in the first quarter. Dalton Jordan also scored on a 52-yard run off a fake punt and the Patriots led 13-6 heading into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, Dawson Bradford found Dougie Branson for a 61-yard touchdown pass just before halftime to give the Patriots a 20-6 lead at the break.
PLAS continued to pour it on in the second half with Jackson Bowen scoring on a 14-yard run in the third quarter along with Jack Baggett recording a safety for the Patriots. Bradford scored on a 28-yard scamper for Pike’s final points. The Patriots led 35-6 heading into the fourth quarter with neither team finding the end zone in the final period.
Pike rolled up 354 yards of offense with 273 yards on the ground. Jordan had another big night for the Patriots, amassing 197 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. Bradford completed 5-of-22 pass attempts for 81 yards and a touchdown, while Branson caught two passes for 66 yards and a touchdown.
The Pike Lib defense allowed 121 total yards and just 20 yards through the air. Rhodes Baker led the Patriot defense with eight tackles, while Pruitt Vaughan recorded seven tackles and Tucker Vaughan earned five tackles.
Next week, Pike Lib returns to region play at home welcoming the Zion Chapel Rebels for a Class 2A, Region 3 showdown.
