Goshen throttles Barbour County in region contest

The Goshen Eagles (4-2, 3-1) earned another Class 2A, Region 3 win on Friday, defeating the Barbour County Jaguars (0-5, 0-3) by a score of 62-0.
The win likely secures the Eagles a spot in the playoffs, with just two more region games left on the schedule.
In the first quarter, Goshen scored on runs of 13 yards from Szemerick Andrews, 43 yards from Jayden McNabb, four yards from Tyler McLendon and four yards from Josh Terry. McNabb also threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to McLendon.
Marcell Newsome added a 6-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and Landon Chandler and Jerbauri Williams combined to earn a safety.
In the third quarter, Layton Burgans scored on a 2-yard run and Jaylon Vinson scored on a 55-yard run, while JD Burney returned a fumble 60 yards for a score in the fourth quarter.
McNabb completed 4-of-6 passes for 27 yards and a touchdown along with rushing for 43 yards and a touchdown. Andrews rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown on three carries.
Chandler led the Goshen defense with 10 tackles, five tackles-for-loss and a safety, while Jacoby Brunson earned eight tackles and a one tackle-for-loss. Terry tallied five tackles, three tackles-for-loss, one sack and two fumble recoveries. He also scored a rushing touchdown.
Goshen will host Pike Lib for a crucial region clash next Friday, Oct. 11.
