*UPDATE* As of 12:47 p.m., all lockdowns on Troy University’s campus have been lifted.
At approximately 11:25 a.m., Troy University issued a shelter in place due to a “active criminal situation.”
Troy University issued the shelter in place to students on campus via social media – and internal messaging apps – and asked that students secure themselves in their rooms and anyone currently off campus to not return to campus.
Just minutes later, Troy University specifically ordered a shelter in room for Newman Center 100 and 200 and asked all other students to avoid the area. At 11:53 a.m. the overall campus shelter in place was lifted but those in Newman Center were asked to remain in their rooms.
Troy University has not issued any further statements about the situation.
