The Troy Arts Council invites everyone to a free concert from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Friday on the square in downtown Troy.

The featured band will be Montgomery-based blues musician John Bull and his band.

Maggie Hammond, TAC president, said John Bull is a dynamic blues, jazz and soul singer/harmonica player who stretches the traditional boundaries of blues harmonica over all these genres.

“The result is a unique blend of American music that’s both uptown and lowdown, Hammond said. “John Bull’s relaxed delivery is the result of decades spent performing at festivals, clubs, restaurants, riverboats and juke joints throughout the southeast.

John Bull teaches harmonica for the Alabama Blues Project and is a member of the Alabama Blues Hall of Fame.

He will be joined by Peggy Walker, who recorded several hit R&B singles and appeared on the televised music show “Night Train” under the name Peggy Gained.

Hammond said the Troy Arts Council will announce the council’s 2025 season at the concert and will have an information table available for people to learn more about joining the TAC.

The Troy Arts Council Auxiliary will sell notecards and prints by Pike County artists at the event.

In case of rain, the concert will be held at The Studio at 303 E. Walnut Street.
