Pike Lib tops Goshen in Area Semifinals

On Thursday, the Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots defeated the Goshen Lady Eagles 3-1 in the Class 2A, Area 3 Semifinals in Troy.
Goshen took the first set 25-20 but Pike Lib came storming back to win three straight sets and capture the win. The Lady Patriots set the tone by dominating the second set 25-5 and then won set three by a score of 25-16 and taking the match with a 25-14 win in the fourth set.
Camryn Brown led Pike with nine kills, four aces and 10 digs, while Anna Cate Friday tallied seven kills, four aces, seven blocks and five digs. Emma Baker tallied five kills and five blocks, while Amy Ramage earned three aces, two kills, 10 assists, one block and nine digs. Alissa Barron chipped in with four aces, five kills and 10 digs. Julianne Meyer totaled two aces, two assists and 10 digs, while Haylie Brown earned two aces, two assists and 10 digs.
For Goshen, Alyssa Pippen led the way with eight kills, one ace, one assist and 11 digs, while Laila Hussey earned five aces, one kill and 12 digs. Alyssa Sparks also totaled two aces, six kills, one block and 10 digs, while Anicka Almine earned 15 digs.
Pike will play the winner of the other semifinal matchup – Luverne vs. Zion Chapel – in the Area Championship later today. Both the winner and runner-up will advance to the Class 2A South Regional Volleyball Tournament in Montgomery next week.
