The Johnson Center for the Arts kicked off their membership year on Friday. October 25 with a free Halloween themed Mask Ball for the community.
Mask Ball featured five local performers, a mask-making art activity, dancing, and refreshments. “The Mask Ball was a taste of the many experiences we provide to different audiences year-round,” said Andrea Pack, JCA executive director. We hope that folks were able to come out and have a good time. Several attendees were dressed to the nines, and brought their own masks and costumes That was a real treat to see their creativity”
Pack said several dance students from Troy University were at the Mask Ball to help others not feel so timid about that and a cake walk was really fun for the adults.
“Performances by Sara Jo Burks, Izzy Braddock, Pat Jackson, Willie B Williams, and Shelia Jackson were the highlight of the night, and I am so thankful to them and others who donated their time and talents for this event to promote membership in our nonprofit organization,” Pack said. “We want the community to know that the arts are worth sharing and worth bringing into our town and into our schools and facilities. Memberships keep the arts going strong here. Most of our programs are free or low-cost, and admission into the museum is free.”
Pack encouraged the participants at the Mask Ball to ring a friend and take advantage of this beautiful facility and the high quality arts exhibits here! The Johnson center is open from 10 to 5 Monday through Friday and for special events some nights and weekends. Follow us online at www.jcatroy.org for events and online donations. Thank you for those who continue to support our mission year after year.
