TPD Makes arrest in gunshot incident on University Avenue

The Troy Police Department has arrested a man in connection to an Oct. 25 shooting on University Avenue.

According to Troy Police Chief Danny Barron, Brandon Rakeem Davenport, of

Troy, was charged with one count of  discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle. Barron said Davenport’s bond was set at $100,000. Davenport is currently being held in the Pike

Barron said Davenport’s arrest was in connection to a shooting that occurred on University Avenue Oct. 25. Barron said officers initially responded to reports of gunfire in the area, but no suspects were located at the scene. Barron said witnesses said an individual fired shots from a vehicle and a second person on foot discharged a firearm. 

Barron said officers were able to recover several shell casings at the scene and discovered a nearby residence was struck by a bullet. An unoccupied vehicle was also struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported, Barron said. 

During the investigation, Barron said officers learned the gunfire followed a physical altercation inside a nearby business. No weapons were involved in the altercation at the business. 

Barron said the Troy Police Department continues to investigate this incident, and more

arrests may be forthcoming. Troy Police urge anyone with additional

information to come forward.
