Tori Hester had a big week for the Troy University volleyball team last week and she was rewarded for it by being named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Hester not only set the Troy school career kills and points record in a two-match sweep over Southern Miss, but she also recorded back-to-back matches with more than 30 kills. Her 33 kills last Thursday were also the second-most kills in a match in Troy history and the most kills in a match in the conference this season.
“What Tori accomplished this weekend offensively was really special,” head coach Josh Lauer said. “I am very thankful that the coaches in our conference recognized that. It is a very well-deserved honor and I’m looking forward to Tori having another great week as we wrap up the regular season at home on Thursday and Friday night against App State.”
Hester earned 63 kills and 35 digs in the two matches, earning double-doubles in both matches. She also stretched her consecutive matches with double digit kills streak to 46 matches, which is the longest active streak in the country.
This is Hester’s second Sun Belt Player of the Week honor this season. She currently ranks in the Top 10 nationally in attacks per set, points per set, kills per set, points, kills and total attacks. She also leads the Sun Belt in kills (451) and points (515.5) and is tied for first in service aces (39).
