The Troy University men’s and women’s basketball teams announced Class of 2025 signings this week.

The men’s team signed high school seniors Tony Montgomery and Emmanuel Clarton.

“Both of these guys really fit who we are and what we’re about,” men’s coach Scott Cross said. “They’re both local kids. Tony is right outside the state and Emmanuel is in the state. We want to start in Troy and recruit out. We found two great high school kids, and we’re excited to have both of them.”

Clarton is a Livingston native that is an all-state guard at Sumter-Central High School. The 6-foot-6-inch star has scored more than 1,000 career points in just two-and-a-half varsity seasons and helped his high school team reach the Class 3A Final Four in each of the last two years.

As a junior, Clarton averaged 25.6 points, six rebounds, seven assists and totaled 76 steals, while being named All-Area, All-Region and All-State. Clarton is also a member of the Beta Club, Honor Society, SGA and is an honor roll student at Sumter-Central.

“Emmanuel came to our team camp and then also to elite camp, and we love what he did. He has a toughness to him. He plays the right way, and he can really shoot the basketball. He’s a great, great teammate, who really knows how to play,” Cross said.

Montgomery is a 6-foot-1-inch, Columbus, Ga., guard that stars for Carver High School. At Carver last season, he averaged 21 points per season as he earned 4A Player of the Year, All-Region and All-State honors.

“Tony is an extremely quick scoring guard. He kind of reminds me a little bit of Damien Lillard the way he plays. He can flat fill it up, he can drive, he can pass and he’s got a good frame to him. He’s an ‘our kind of guy’, and we’re extremely excited,” Cross said.

The women’s team also landed signings from two international students in Marianah Mapour and Lana Koricanac, who played high school basketball at Greenforest Christian Academy in Georgia.

Mapour is a 6-foot-5-inch center from Rumbek, South Sudan in Africa. Last season, Mapour helped lead Greenforest to a 7A District Championship. She opened her 2024-2025 season with 14 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and five blocks.

“Marianah is an athletic, long post that is a natural fit for our style of play,” women’s coach Chanda Rigby said. “We are excited to get her as a freshman and look forward to developing her.”

Koricanac is a 5-foot-11-inch guard from Belgrade, Serbia. She also played her high school career at Greenforest Christian Academy. Last season, she played at Bella Vista College Prep, filling up the stat sheet with 16 points, five assists, five rebounds and three steals per game.

“Lana is such a skilled guard,” Rigby said. “She makes the right pass and shoots the right shot. She will improve our squad in many ways.”
