The Troy Trojans (2-2) were back on the road Sunday and dropped a game 82-61 to the undefeated Oregon Ducks (4-0).
Troy had one of its worst three-point shooting games in the past four years, knocking down just 3-of-25 shot attempts. Meanwhile Oregon shot 31.8 percent from the three-point line. Troy also shot just 37.3 percent from the field, while Oregon shot 51.8 percent. The Trojans were also outrebounded by the Ducks 38-31 and both teams turned the ball over 17 times each. Oregon led Troy 38-23 at halftime and also outscored the Trojans 44-38 in the second half.
“It wasn’t our best effort tonight on either side of the ball,” Troy Coach Scott Cross said. “Obviously when we hit shots it makes our defense a lot better, but we couldn’t hit shots, and our intensity wasn’t where it needed to be on defense. Credit to Oregon. They played good, they played tough and they were physical the whole game, which caused us to miss a bunch of shots early on and we never really regrouped or recovered from it.”
Myles Rigsby led Troy with 15 points and three steals, while his brother Marcus Rigsby Jr. tallied nine points, two assists and two steals. Thomas Dowd and Cooper Campbell scored eight points each, while Tayton Conerway tallied seven points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Keeshawn Barthelemy scored 15 points and TJ Bamba tallied 13 points.
Troy is back on the road Tuesday night against West Georgia at 6 p.m.
