PCBOE members sworn in

Two members were sworn into office for the Pike County Board of Education this week.
Dr. Clint Foster was sworn in for his second term as a board member representing District 5.
Amanda Hughs was also sworn in as the board member for District 6. Hughes will be serving her first term on the PCBOE.
Both Foster and Hughes were sworn in by Pike County Judge of Probate Michael Bunn.
Following the swearing in ceremony, the BOE held its regularly scheduled meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Bazzell informed the board that the construction of a new athletic complex for Pike County High School was moving forward. Bazzell said site work was complete and contractors had begun work on the softball and baseball fields. Bazzell said work on the fields would hopefully be complete in time for baseball and softball season.
In other business the board:
- approved a request for Lesley Johns to travel to and attend the AASBO New CSFO Harris Software training, December 4-6 in Mobile.
- approved a request for Tina Senn, Sontessia Youngblood, Hailey Hodges and Janet Dempsey to travel to and attend the AEA Delegate Assembly, December 5-6, 2024, in Tuscaloosa.
- approved a request for TaMika Hurt and Tammy Calhoun to travel to and attend the Alabama 504 Annual Conference, December 3-5, 2024, in Birmingham,.
- approved a request for Henry Everett and Abigail Baggett to travel to and attend the Alabama music Educators Association annual conference, January 23-25, 2025, in Birmingham.
- approved a request for Gina Maxwell to travel to and attend the Alabama Career Coach Retreat, January 14-16, 2025, in Tuscaloosa.
- approved a request for Holley Davis and Rachael Brooks to travel to and attend the AL Counseling Conference, November 20-22, 2024, in Montgomery.
- approved a request for six students and chaperones to participate in a Study Abroad opportunity with Troy University, May 7, 2025 – June5, 2025, in Greece.
- approved a request to purchase 190 computers through a lease to own agreement with TEQLease.

Personnel
- accepted the resignation of Deborah Coggins, Bookkeeper, GES. Effective January 1, 2025.
- accepted the resignation of Josh Roberts, Bus Driver, Bus Shop.
- accepted the resignation of Angelica Kloss Moreno, Instructional Aide, CO.
- approved a request to reassign Jamire Sutherland from full time maintenance helper to full time bus driver, Bus Shop.
- approved a request to employ Sarah Allen, School Counselor, GES.
- approved a request for volunteer status for Jarie Grayson, Girls Basketball, PCHS.
