Once again, the ladies of Brundidge Methodist Church will host their annual Christmas Luncheon for Local Missions.
“Ladies at our Methodist church in Brundidge have always had hearts for mission work,” Jennifer Garrett said. “Years ago, that desire to help others resulted in bake sales and yard sales of various handmade items during the Christmas season. In the Christmas season of 1982, the ladies decided to prepare a Christmas Buffet to serve in the church Fellowship Hall. The food would be prepared by the ladies and served to the church and the community on a Saturday near Christmas. Prayers for success and for understanding how to use the money for various missions was important. Lots of fun and work went into the preparation and the day of serving the food.”
During the year after the luncheon, the money was delegated to various areas of missions locally and to missionaries sharing Jesus in lands afar. The tradition is alive and well this holiday season. Garrett said this year, look for a few new ideas. The date of this year’s luncheon has been changed to second Sunday, Dec. 8, but the location will still be in the Fellowship Hall of Brundidge Methodist Church on Main Street, across from the Post Office.
Plates will be $10 per person and children 6 and under will eat free. Guests may eat in the Fellowship Hall or prepare a takeout lunch. Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. The community is invited after your church services. Come enjoy our Christmas Luncheon Buffet for missions.
