Area teams compete in Monday hoops action

The Charles Henderson Trojans, Ariton Purple Cats and Pike Liberal Arts Patriots were in competition on the basketball court on Monday.

Charles Henderson faced off against Gadsden City in the first round of the Sneaky Pete’s Rebel Classic in Vestavia Hills and lost 82-49. Kamryn Christian led CHHS with 12 points, while Damien Williams added 10 points. The Trojans will advance to the consolation bracket today.

Pike Lib opened up the boys’ basketball hoops season with a 49-30 loss to Ariton on Monday, as well. Easton Kilpatrick scored 13 points for Ariton, while Addison Senn added 12 points and seven rebounds. Aven Cook added seven points and six rebounds.

For Pike Lib, Chase DeBoer scored nine points, while Jack Baggett chipped in with eight points.

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans lost 56-34 to Pelham in the first game of the Pelham Turkey Tipoff. Harmony Hubbard led CHHS with 11 points. The Lady Trojans will forfeit Tuesday’s game against Pell City in the tournament due to a lack of available players.
