The Troy Trojans (5-3) wrapped up a three-game home stretch with an 84-74 win over the Eastern Kentucky Colonels (4-5) on Sunday at Trojan Arena.

Troy had a big shooting night, knocking down 58 percent of its shot attempts along with 47.1 percent shooting from three-point land and 90 percent shooting from the free throw line. The Trojans held Eastern Kentucky to 46.8 percent shooting and just 18.2 percent in three-point shooting.

The Trojans outrebounded the Colonels 34-23 and outscored EKU 42-34 in the paint. Troy, however, turned the ball over 19 times, allowing Eastern Kentucky 23 points off those turnovers. Troy only managed 10 points off 10 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

“It was a great all-around win for the guys. We had such a quick turnaround, and [EKU] is a hard team to prepare for because they pressure for 40 minutes and with only having one day, it was so quick,” Troy Coach Scott Cross said. “But our guys did a great job. It was an all-around great team performance for us. Our bench was amazing. It starts off though, with Myles [Rigsby]; I mean 8-11 from the field, 2-2 from the 3-point line and 20 points on 11 shots – that’s amazing right there.

“Jerrell Bellamy had 18 points on seven shots, which is unheard of productivity right there. Cooper Campbell had a perfect game. He was 4-4 from the field, 2-2 from the 3-point line, no turnovers, one assist and two rebounds. I mean those guys just gave us huge lifts.”

Myles Rigsby led Troy with 20 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Jerrell Bellamy came off the bench to score 18 points and grab five rebounds. Tayton Conerway scored 10 points, dished five assists and earned two steals, while Cooper Campbell scored 10 points.

Eastern Kentucky was led by Devontae Blanton and George Kimble III with 14 points each.

That win came off the heels of a 72-68 loss to Merrimack in the final game of the Trojan Turkey Tipoff on Black Friday.

Troy led 51-50 midway through the second half but Merrimack outscored the Trojans 22-17 in the final 10 minutes to secure the win. Troy shot 45.8 percent from the field, while Merrimack shot 55.1 percent. While Troy won the rebound battle 32-24, both sides turned the ball over 14 times each.

For Troy, Myles Rigsby led the way with 15 points and six rebounds, while Conerway earned 13 points with three assists. Jackson Fields tallied 10 points with four rebounds. Devon Savage earned 23 points for Merrimack, while Adam Clark added 20 points.

Troy is back on the road on Dec. 10 for a big matchup with the No. 6-ranked Houston Cougars. This is the second game so far this season for the Trojans against a ranked opponent.
