Charles Henderson competes in Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic

The Charles Henderson Trojans traveled to Dothan this weekend to compete in the Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic, falling 75-41 to the Georgiana Panthers in the first round.
Georgiana jumped out to a 23-10 lead in the first quarter and led 36-19 at halftime. The Panthers also outscored CHHS 39-22 in the second half. GHS out-rebounded the Trojans 37-21 and forced 19 turnovers in the win.
CHHS was led by Quentavious Johnson with nine points and three rebounds, while both Meldrick Rodgers and Deep Patel scored eight points each. Rodgers also grabbed six rebounds and blocked three shots. Laray Triggs earned three steals and scored six points.
For Georgiana, Jacobie Morgan scored 20 points and earned four steals, while both Kaveon Miles and Nasir Cheatham scored 19 each. Cheatham also tallied three steals and Miles earned eight rebounds.
In other first round games, Dothan defeated Abbeville 62-52, Providnece Christian beat Geneva 72-45, Rehobeth topped Geneva County 82-49, Houston Academy defeated Dale County 81-69, Headland beat Northside Methodist 69-38, Carroll beat Wicksburg 69-37 and Eufaula beat Ashford 72-43.
Georgiana went on to fall to Class 7A Dothan 65-58 in the quarterfinals. Other quarterfinal matchups saw Houston Academy defeat Carroll 81-71, Providence Christian beat Rehobeth 62-53 and Eufaula edge Headland 66-52.
