Local teams pick up weekend Hoops wins

A number of area teams were in basketball action this past weekend, including both Charles Henderson and Pike Liberal Arts picking up boys and girls wins.
Charles Henderson’s boys throttled Keith by a score of 71-28 as Kameron Christian tallied 13 points in the win, while Jydarien Burney scored 10 points.
The CHHS Lady Trojans also picked up a dominant 66-18 win over Keith. Ava Mitchell-Stone led the way with 21 points, while Harmony Hubbard added 16 points, Jasmin Foster scored 12 and Kamari Strozier tallied 10 points.
The Pike Liberal Arts girls bested Samson by a score of 35-32 as Shelley Stephens scored 13 points. The Pike Lib boys also picked up a 60-50 win over Samson, as well.
The Pike County Lady Bulldogs lost 44-27 to Bullock County. Jakayla Pierson led PCHS with 12 points and five steals, while Tamieja Taylor scored 10.
The Ariton Purple Cats earned a 43-31 win over Elba. Addison Senn totaled 14 points and six rebounds in the win, while Conner Davidson added nine points and six steals. Easton Kilpatrick also totaled eight points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Purple Cats beat Elba 54-50 as Nya Allen scored 26 points and eight rebounds. Lizzy Woodfaulk also totaled 14 points and seven board, while Macileigh Bragg totaled seven points and nine assists.
