Local girls basketball teams compete in area action

A number of local girls basketball teams were in area action on Tuesday.
The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots earned a 32-26 win over Zion Chapel in Class 2A, Area 3. In Class 2A, Area 4, the Ariton Lady Purple Cats picked up a 49-23 win over Barbour County, as well. Nya Allen led the Lady Cats with 22 points, while Lizzy Woodfaulk added 11.
The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans dropped a Class 5A, Area 3 game to Greenville on Tuesday by a score of 43-36. Kamari Strozier led CHHS with 10 points in the loss.
The Pike County Lady Bulldogs lost 54-21 in a Class 4A, Area 4 game. Jakayla Pierson led PCHS with seven points, while Haley McCray scored five. For New Brockton, Reese Eddins scored 19 points and Kiani Schmitz scored 16.
