Charles Henderson, Ariton girls pick up Saturday wins

Both the Charles Henderson Lady Trojans Ariton Lady Purple Cats picked up big wins on Saturday.
The Lady Trojans throttled Johnson Abernathy Gratez (JAG) High School by a score of 64-19 as Harmony Hubbard led the way with 24 points. Ava Mitchell-Stone added 19 points and both Kamari Strozier and Ericka Young chipped in with 10 points each. The win moved CHHS to 9-8 overall on the season.
Ariton also picked up a 36-23 win over rival GW Long to move to 2-0 in Class 2A, Area 4. The win also moved Ariton to 11-2 overall on the season. Macileigh Bragg led AHS with 14 points along with Nya Allen’s 13 points.
The Ariton boys (9-7, 0-2) dropped their area contest with GW Long by a score of 52-42. GW Long led for the majority of the game but the Cats went on a late 8-0 run that brought Ariton within five points with just under three minutes remaining. Long, though, managed to pull way in the final minutes. Addison Senn led Ariton with 11 points and Bryson Rhett tallied 10 points.
