CHHS Wrestling goes 2-2 at Region Duals

The Charles Henderson High School wrestling squad went 2-2 at the Class 5A, Region 1 Dual Championships this past weekend.
In the first match, Charles Henderson fell to Beauregard 75-6. Charles Henderson’s lone win against Beauregard was Jaylen Thomas at 175 pounds earning a pinball win over Brody Morand.
The Trojans then earned a narrow 31-30 win over Brewbaker Tech. For CHHS, Elijah Warren (190 pounds), Hayes West (106 pounds), Jean-Christ Gallie (113 pounds), Henry Grenon (138 pounds) and Thomas all won via forfeit. There were also four double forfeits.
Charles Henderson then lost 60-16 to Elberta. West (106 pounds) won via forfeit for the Trojans, while Thomas picked up his third win of the tournament via pinball over Elberta’s Landon Abbott at 175 pounds. Warren also captured a major decision victory by a score of 18-7 over Kai Weeks at 190 pounds.
Finally, against Valley, the Trojans earned a 24-21 win. Charles Henderson’s Hayes West defeated Valley’s James Robinson via pinball at 106 pounds, while Henry Grenon earned a pinfall win over Valleys Gaines Sturges at 144 pounds. Both David Dawson (132 pounds) and Thomas (175 pounds) also earned forfeit wins.
Thomas went 4-0 during the duals with two wins via pinfall and two forfeit victories. CHHS heads to St. James for another match on Thursday.
