He does not speak at many press conferences, but when he does sit in front of the microphones it is for something important.
Troy Athletic Director Steve Dennis addressed the media at the Troy Trojans weekly press conference Monday at Country’s Barbeque. He wanted to let all the Trojan faithful know about the importance of this week’s home game.
“This is a great opportunity in November for Troy University to make a statement,” Dennis said. “The next two (Sun Belt) conference games will be played here and we have a chance to win the conference outright for the first time.”
Troy has grabbed a share of the conference the last two years and with wins over ULL this weekend and Arkansas State next weekend they will grab their first outright title since joining the conference in 2004.
Dennis said all the players and coaches have worked too hard to watch all that work go to waste.
“I am fired up and I hope we have a full house this weekend,” Dennis said. “Everyone needs to take the opportunity to come to the game, wear cardinal and stay until the game is over. Our players have worked too hard for the fans to not come out and support them. They have done what they need to do and now we need the fans to come out and support them.”
Troy hosts the Ragin Cajuns of the University of Louisiana Lafayette Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. from Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium.
