In 6A action:
Benjamin Russell beat Opelika 10-5 despite a three-run 4th inning rally by Opelika that brought them within two. Benjamin Russell went on to outscore Opelika 5-2 to finish the match.
Dothan outscored Prattville 4-1. In a pitcher’s duel, it was knotted up at one until Dothan’s Katie Andrews hit a single in the 8th inning to drive in Kacie McAllister making it 2-1. The Tigers went on to score two more to secure the victory.
Wetumpka trailed Central-Phenix 4-2 going into the 4th inning when they scored five runs including a two run RBI double off the bat of Sommer Beaird. Wetumpka held on to win 7-5.
Saturday Action:
Northview defeats Dothan, 8-1.
Northview was able to take care of its rival, thanks to a big second inning, where NHS scored five runs.
Mouie Hanson had a strong pitching performance for Northview, as she allowed just three hits while striking out four.
Prattville Christian defeats Ben Russell. 4-2.
After trailing 2-0 throughout most of the game, PCHS was able to bounce back and score four runs in the final two innings to advance in the winner’s bracket.
Wetumpka defeats Opelika, 8-3.
WHS’ Theriot went 3-3 at the plate, and also scored three runs in the win.
In 5A action:
Chelsea defeats Sylacauga, 4-0.
Chelsea got off to a fast start, scoring three runs in the first inning.
Tori Hollis and Johana Barnes both finished 1-3 with an RBI.
Chilton County defeats Valley, 9-1.
Chilton scored seven runs in the final two innings to pull away for Valley for good.
Northview catcher Jordyn Whiddon accounted for each of the Lady Cougars’ five runs in their victory over Robert E. Lee going 4-4 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI. The final score was 5-2.
Beauregard ran over Demopolis 10-0. Robin Dunaway pitched the shutout for the Lady Hornets.
Moody pulled off a win over Shelby County scoring seven runs while pitcher Jessica Stone held Shelby to three points and went 2-4 with an RBI.
Saturday Action:
Beauregard defeats Sylacausa, 11-3.
Beauregard scored in everything but the first, as Dunway led the way going 2-4 at the plate with two RBIs.
In 4A action:
Montgomery Catholic defeats Handley, 2-0.
MCHS scored two runs in the top of the first inning.
Kristen Lancaster finsihed 3-3 with a run scored while Anisa Britt finished 1-3 with an RBI.
Bibb County defeats Oak Groove, 10-0.
BCHS had 12 hits in the game and Tamellya D. 3-4 with a home run.
Morgan M., Mairna A., Megan M., also had RBIs.
Corner beat Calera 13-3. It was a close game until the 5th inning when Corner put up five runs on six hits and took a commanding 10-3 lead.
Saturday Action:
Montgomery- Catholic defeats Childersburg, 6-4.
Despite a late inning rally in the sixth by Childersburg, Catholic was able to get the win, thanks to three runs in the fifth inning.
Anisa Britt hit a 2-run home run in the third inning for Catholic.
Corner defeats Handley, 3-0.
Despite striking out eight times, Corner was able to get the best of Handley by scoring three runs in the last two innings.
In 3A action:
Sumiton Christian claimed victory over B.B. Corner 4-1 on the arm of pitcher S. Smith who held Corner to just four hits on the day.
Dadeville edged by Cordova 1-0 thanks to an RBI single by 1st basemen Kristen Sharpe, that drove in Shae Heard.
Marbury dismantled Aliceville 9-0 thanks to a no hitter pitched by Meliah Matthews with Emily Logan in relief.
Trinity mounted an early lead on Gordo going up 4-0 in the first inning. They finished off the Greenwave 9-3.
Saturday Action:
Marbury defeats Cordova, 3-2.
In 2A action:
Goshen defeats Thorsby, 3-2.
The Eagles rallied to score two runs in the six to take a 3-2 lead.
Amanda Griggs went 2-3 at the plate with a stolen base and a run scored.
Pickens County defeats Clay County, 2-0.
The only runs of the game came in the bottom of the second when PCHS scored two runs.
Clay County managed just four hits in the game.
PCHS’ Richardson hit a two-RBI single to help her team to victory.
Zion Chapel played consistently scoring in every inning but the first and last and defeating Isabella 8-4.
The Alabama Christian Academy decimated Childersburg 11-1. Designated player Kelli Harris got them started with a two-run homer in the first.
The American Christian Academy shut out Horseshoe Bend 10-0 on the back of catcher Jordan Patterson who went 3-3.
In 1A action:
Faith Christian pummeled Edward Bell 16-3. Faith jumped out to an 8-0 1st inning lead, capitalizing on a string of wild pitches and never looked back.
Sweetwater’s 1st basemen, B. Black scored both runs in the Lady Dawgs 2-0 victory over Holy Spirit.
Saturday Action:
Faith defeats Billingsly, 10-7.
Faith’s Alexis Rogers led the way, going 3-4 at the plate and driving in three runs, while Georgia Sexton went 2-3 with two RBIs.
Holy Spirit defeats Wadley, 10-0.
Holy Spirit’s Kimbell struck out 13 Wadley batters, and only allowed one, which came in the last inning.
At the plate, Holy Spirit’s Chambliss went 2-3 at the plate, scoring two runs.
Kimbell, Cabo and Walmsley also scored twice for Holy Spirit.
Maplesville defeats Sweetwater, 9-0.
Maplesville scored six runs in the second and third innings.
Maplesville’s Edwards went 2-3 with two RBIs at the plate.
Clay County defeats Zion Chapel, 4-3.
ZCHS was able to take a early lead, however, was unable to hold off CCHS, who took the lead in the third and never looked back.
CCHS’ Matthews went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.
