Kylee Moon grinned from ear-to-ear as her grandmother watched her circle ‘round on a big, green fish.

“I like the ferris wheel, the merry-go-round and the fishes,” said the 3-year-old Moon, as she stepped off one ride at the Pike County Fair Kid’s Night on Wednesday.

Moon and her grandparents come every year to the county fair from Dothan.

“We enjoy it, and it’s not so crowded,” said her grandmother Debra Patton. “I enjoy the Peanut Festival as far as the arts and crafts, but this fair is more personal.”

But, the small-town atmosphere isn’t the only thing that brings these two up to Pike County. It’s Moon’s grandfather, CB the clown.

“He likes being the clown,” Moon said. “He’s funny and he makes balloons.”

And, Moon was far from the only kid enjoying herself at the fair Wednesday.

Alanna Williams, mother of two from Louisville, said her 3- and 1-year olds couldn’t get enough of the fair.

“My kids are having a wonderful time,” Williams said. “This is our second time out, and my oldest child loves all the rides.”

Even older children were taking advantage of their Kid’s-night-out.

Donald and Gena Murphy, of Troy, brought their 13-year-old grandson to the fair and just let him rome.

“We brought him out here and let him lose,” Donald Murphy said, as he purchased a funnel cake from the concession stand.

Buck Sneed, rental manager for the Pike County Fairgrounds, said kid’s night is the Wednesday night tradition each year at the fair, and it allows kids to get in half price.

“We want the kids to come,” Sneed said. “And we want them to enjoy it, too.”
