Harold Childs

Funeral services for Harold Childs, 86, of the Tarentum Community, who died at his home Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Grantham and the Rev. Kenny Horn officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jewell Tillman Childs; parents, Henry and Rebecca Childs; aunt, Sarah J. Maughon; and seven brothers and sisters.

He is survived by a daughter, Glenda Childs Shipman of Banks; a son, Ezra Kenneth Childs of Brundidge; a daughter, Lynn Childs (Ronnie) Dixon of Eufaula; grandchildren, Todd Shipman of Banks, Lori S. Mithcell of Banks, Harold Kevin (Kathy) Childs of Banks, Jennifer Childs, Betsy Baker of Gulf Shores, and Holly Baker (Justin) Beasley of Eufaula; great-grandchildren, Summer Shipman of Troy, Brandon Shipman of Troy, Kaitlyn Mithcell of Banks, Beth Childs, Randi Childs, and Anna Childs of Banks, and Lexxie Childs of Elba; sister-in-law, Sara Childs; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Addie Pearl and Ray Johnston; and several nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers will be Max Alums, Phillip Mauldin, Kenneth Jackson, Max Ellis, Robert McLendon, and Thomas Allen. The honorary pallbearers will be the Pike County Sheriff Department.

Annie Bell Brantley

Funeral services for Annie Bell Brantley, who died Feb. 8, 2007, will be at 1 p.m. today at Fountain of Life Church.

Burial will follow at Carroll Street Cemetery.

Visitation was from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Grubbs Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brantly, who was born Jan. 29, 1929, was the fifth daughter born to the Rev. Samuel and Lula Bell Daniels. She married Booker T. Brantley June 13, 1961.

She became a member of Fountain of Life Church in 1984. Mrs. Brantley served in many capacities. Church members and neighbors will especially remember the cakes, meals, care and service that she shared with everyone.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Lucille Daniels; two sisters, Mary Tolbert and Barnice Duvall; two brothers, Donnie Daniels and Solomon Daniels; her mother, Lula Bell Daniels; and her father, Samuel Daniels.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary J. and her husband, Willie Moore, of Montgomery and Evangelist Carolyn Berry of Troy; three sisters, Mattie Johnson of Montgomery, Louise Smiley of Richmond, Calif., and Lillian Darby of East Orange, N.J.; sister-in-law, Christine Daniels; special nephew, Harry Daniels; devoted son-in-law, Freddie L. Berry; six grandchildren and their husbands, Tamara Berry and Sedrick Teague, Tiffany Moore and Nate Adams, Fredrick L. Berry, Jason J. Berry, Jessica Berry and Aaron Greenwood and Toran X. Moore; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

She will be missed by many.

Virginia B. Barker

Graveside services for Virginia B. Barker, 86, of Montgomery, formerly of Troy, who died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at Crowne Health Care of Montgomery, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy with the Rev. George Merritt officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Barker was born July 6, 1920, in Clay County.

She had a 12th-grade education and worked in the dry cleaning business and was a former member of Collegedale Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Brown and Bernice Gravette Brown, husband, Roy Awbrey Barker, and a brother, Cois Brown.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Spears of Montgomery; a son, Awbrey Barker of Goshen; grandchildren, Justin and Laurie Barker of Hoover, Matthew Beatty of Cleveland, Ohio, and Zac Spears of Montgomery; great-granddaughter, Hannah Barker of Hoover; sisters, Ruth Houston of Huntsville, Burma and Joe Bible of Oxford, Martha and Fred Denny of Oxford and Inez and Jeral Clark of Lineville; brothers, James L. and Billie Ruth Brown of Roanoke, Horace and Faye Brown of Clanton and Dan and Edna Earle Brown of Anniston; and several nieces and nephews

Pallbearers will be Justin Barker, Matthew Beatty, Zac Spears, Bobby Catrett, Hubert Conner and Barry Brantley.

Memorial may be made to the hospice of your choice.

Callie Lowell Shipes Bembry

Funeral services for Callie Lowell Shipes Bembry, who died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, in a local hospital, will be at 11 a.m. today at Sandy Valley Baptist Church on Houston Lake Road in Warner Robins, Ga.

Graveside services will follow at Walnut Cemetery in Unadilla, Ga.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Bembry was born in Dodge County, the daughter of Mary Giddens and Joseph Calhoun Shipes. She was deeply loved and honored by her children and family. She had a heart of gold and a very spirited nature and attitude toward life.

She was a member of Sandy Valley Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bembry was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen Bembry; son, Robert Bembry; sisters, May Lou Griffin, Virginia Gray and Geneva McDonald; brothers, Van Shipes, Porter Shipes and Franklin Shipes; and granddaughters, Charlene Langston Campbell and Diane Bembry.

She is survived by her son Thomas Bembry, and his wife, Barbara, of Austin, Texas; daughters, Jean Lovik and her husband Larry of Montgomery, Ala., Martha Michaud of Gray, Ga., Sarah Mehaffey and her husband David of Warner Robins, Ga., and Virginia Miller of Dover, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Norma Bembry of Gordon, Ga; brother, Charles Shipes of Haynesville, Ga.; sister-in-law, Nell Shipes of Haynesville, Ga.; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jim Watford, of Cochran, Ga., and Linda and John Carnes of Warner Robins, Ga.
