Myrtle Dees Spencer

Myrtle Dees Spencer, 79, a lifetime resident of Ramer/Pine Level, Alabama died on December 2, 2005 in Brandon, Florida.  She had resided in Brandon for the past three years to be near her sister.  Myrtle was predeceased by her father, Wiley Dees; her mother, Mabel Scherbarth and her brother, Leslie Dees.  Survivors include her sister, Joy Vogel and her husband, Gregory, of Tampa, Florida; her niece, Debbi Councill and her daughter, Alexis Joy Councill of Brandon; her nephew, Benjamin R. Councill, Jr., and his sons, Benjamin R. Councill, III, Maxwell A. Councill, and Eric M. Councill of Valrico, Florida, and her great-nephew, Wiley Jacob Dees of Troy, Alabama; a cousin, Kathy Russell of Grady, Alabama as well as numerous relatives and life-long friends in the Ramer/Pine Level area.

For 32 years, she was a legal secretary and later law librarian at Rushton, Stakely, Johnston and Garrett, of Montgomery, Alabama, beginning as the personal secretary to Colonel Rushton until his death, and later to Mr. William Moore. 

Services will be held at the Pine Level Baptist Church, Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at 12:00 PM with Reverend Mike Deese officiating.  Burial will be at Pine Level Baptist cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.  Visitation will be held at Pine Level Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. 

Active pallbearers will be Wiley Jacob Dees, Mark McFoley, John Lewis Dees, Carl Ray Chadwick, Cedric Wyatt, and Frank Livingston.  Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Menefee and Clevy Gibson.
