William Flinn &uot;Bill&uot; Curtis

William Flinn &uot;Bill&uot; Curtis, 59, of Opelika, died Saturday September 10, 2005, at his home.

Funeral services will be Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at 3 p.m. from the graveside in Garden Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 11 , 2005 rom 3-5 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home. He was born May 24, 1946, in Luverne.

He worked as a probation officer for the State of Alabama for 32 years in Dadeville, LaFayette and Opelika as a district supervisor.

He was active in the Alabama State Employee Association and he served in the Alabama National Guard for 26 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Opelika.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy &uot;Dottie&uot; Curtis of Opelika;

daughters, Hope Curtis of Montgomery and Beth Yates of Valley; sons, Scott (Keri) Curtis of Montgomery; Jay (Stephanie) Bedsole of Montgomery; sisters, Kay (Bee) Gamble) of Pensacola, Fla.; and Nikki (Dennis) Carver of Huntsville; brothers, Henry (Verbie) Curtis of Troy, Chris (Debbie) Curtis of Montgomery, Joe (Michelle) Curtis of Silver Hill and Robert (Fleshia) Curtis of Huntsville; a grandchild, Brittany Yates of Valley; his mother, Eleanor Curtis of Luverne; and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.

Mrs. Mary Helen Ward Shepherd

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Helen Ward Shepherd, 70, of Anniston will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with Dr. Charles Martin and Dr. Billy Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Park in Troy, AL. The family will receive friends on Tuesday Evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Shepherd died Sunday at Regional Medical Center.

Mary Helen (Ward) Shepherd beloved wife, mother and grandmother entered into heaven on September 11, 2005.

Raised in Tarentum, AL, she married her high school sweetheart Dean Shepherd, September 20, 1955.

She received her nursing degree from Marymount College in Salina, Kansas.

Her nursing career spanned 34 years from hospital nursing to industrial nursing.

She last worked at Monsanto as their industrial nurse from 1973-1991.

She continued caring for friends and family after leaving the workforce.

She in survived by her husband of 50 years, Dean Shepherd, children; Michelle Lanum (Tom), Jim Shepherd, Jr. (Ann), David Shepherd (Laurie), Claire Roberts (Richard), eight grandchildren; Heather Lanum Herridge (Emerson), Katie Lanum, Julee Lanum, Ashley Shepherd, Megan Shepherd, Ryan Shephard, J.J. Shepherd and Erin Roberts; sister, Sally Prassel; brother, Eldrid Ward, Jr.; sister-in-laws, Elizabethann Ward, Desiree Ward; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Noah Lee Livingston

Graveside services for Noah Lee Livingston, 77, of Goshen who died Sunday, September 11, 2005 at his home in Henderson will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at Hopewell Cemetery in Henderson with Rev. Marvin Jackson officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Livingston was born March 16, 1928 in Pike County. He was a retail store clerk.

He was preceded in death by his 2nd. wife, Maurice Tharp Livingston; granddaughter, Michelle Wright; grandson; Robby Hooks; three brothers, Rufus, Albert and Roy Livingston all of Banks and his parents, Kirby Livingston and Clara Price Livingston. Survivors include a son, Tracy Livingston of Henderson; three daughters and their husbands, Cathy and Roger Metcalf of Atlanta, Georgia, Brenda Hooks of Troy and Trina and Derrick Deese of Grady; four grandchildren, Brandon Hooks of Troy, Robert Livingston of Boston MA., Taylor Deese of Grady and Jordan Agee of Mobile; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Rastus and Mildred Livingston of Brundidge, Joe and Laurie Livingston of Banks and James Livingston of Jack; two sisters-in-law, Helen Livingston of Banks and Lucille Livingston of South Carolina.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Deese, Roger Metcalf, Larry Livingston, Lamar Livingston, Mack Rhodes and Dwight Paul.

The family request memorials be made to Hopewell Cemetery, 355 County Road 2263, Troy, Alabama 36079.

Rutha M. Jackson

Services for Rutha M. Jackson, 74, of Troy who died September 9, 2005 in Troy will be at 11 a.m. September 15, 2005 at Lilly Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James Booth officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Street Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2005. Mrs. Jackson was born July 30, 1931 in Montgomery County. She was a faithful member of St. Mark AME Church. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Glasco, Sr. and Minnie Lee Murray.

Survivors include seven children, James W. Jackson, Jr., Johnny B. and Betty Jackson, Minnie Richards of Troy, Willie R. Davis, Ruthie L. and Willis Windsor of Enterprise, Mary M. Jackson of Forest Park, Georgia and Brinda L. McGruder of Montgomery; step son, Willie James Jones; step mother, Minnie B. Glasco of Troy; two brothers, Ocie B. and Daisy Glasco and John D. Glasco of Birmingham; twelve grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren and an extended family, "The Campbells", Kenny, Kathy, Newton, Christopher and Stephanie all of whom she loved and cherished dearly; devoted friend, Retha D. Griffin and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. Floral bearers will be granddaughters and nieces.

Marshall Meredith

Marshall Meredith, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 in Tuscaloosa. He was 21.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Dean and Dr. Hays McKay, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends in the chapel of the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lafayette Street United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1506, Dothan, Alabama, 36302 or a favorite charity.

Marshall is predeceased by grandparents, Clifton Moates Youngblood, Walter and Hazel Meredith, Sr. and an uncle, Jimmy R. Meredith.

Marshall was born December 19, 1983 in Dothan and lived there most all of his life. He was a 2002 graduate of Northview High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society and Interact. Marshall was a junior at the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. As a child, Marshall enjoyed sports and was involved in baseball, soccer and football. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Marshall was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church and was involved in various activities of the church.

Survivors include his parents, Phillip and Pam Meredith of Dothan; brother, Mason Meredeth of Dothan; his maternal grandmother, Madaline Youngblood of Dothan; his maternal great-grandmother, Beulah Martin of Abbeville; aunts and uncles, Walter Meredeth, Jr., Nancy Colella, Joel and Gayle Meredeth, Judy and Joe Hart, Joyce and Matt Matheson, Mae Meredeth all of Dothan, Cliff and Dot Youngblood of Luverne, Lynn Youngblood of Birmingham and numerous relatives also survive.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Marshall's closest friends, Matt Harris, Drew Martin, Cameron Creel, Brandon Buchanan, Brett Richarson, Hal Senn, Adris Ludlum and Charlie Paulk.
