Two men suspected of robbing a Troy convenience store were arrested Thursday and police are seeking a third suspect.
The two men arrested are Steven Roseboro, 20, and Denzel Brown, 16, both of Ozark. They were charged with first-degree robbery and bond was set at $75,000 each.
Police are still searching for Eunique Equality Laquan Brown, 17, whom they believe also took part in the weekend robbery.
According to a statement released by Sgt. Benny Scarbrough, detectives learned Thursday that the suspects in the early Sunday morning robbery at the ZTech on U.S. 231 near Sanders Road were in Brundidge.
“Troy police also were advised that these men were suspects in a robbery of a business in Ozark on Wednesday night,” Scarbrough said. “And, they’re wanted in connection with an armed robbery of a business over the weekend in Enterprise.”
Troy police received a tip that they men were in Brundidge and “an intense search” ensued. Brundidge, Troy, Enterprise and Ozark police departments; Pike and Dale County Sheriff’s deputies; tracking dogs and officers from Ventress Correctional Facility; and a helicopter from the Dale County Sheriff’s Department all took part in the search.
“One individual was arrested in one place and the other was captured walking down the road,” he said.
Denzel Brown is one of two individuals seen in photos released by the police on Wednesday; Eunique Brown is the other.
“We knew as part of our investigation that two guys walked into two businesses, dressed exactly alike,” Scarbrough said. “There was also a third person, who was never identified until (Thursday).”
The trio is suspected of robbing the ZTech on U.S. 231 near Sanders Road at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The clerk reported that two men entered the store, one brandished a firearm and demanded the clerk empty the cash register. Police said the suspects had been captured on surveillance video at both ZTech stores late Saturday and early Sunday, and they released images from one of those videos late Wednesday in hopes of identifying the suspects.
Late Monday night, a second robbery occurred at the Texaco station on U.S. 87. In that robbery, a clerk was accosted as he walked to his car outside the store after it closed. Police said he was struck on the head and a moneybag and his wallet were stolen. Police originally said they did not believe the two incidents were related.
“It’s still under investigation,” Scarbrough said Thursday. “We’re not ruling out a connection.”
Scarbrough said he could not address the disposition of any charges pending in Ozark or Enterprise. “We’re working together on this,” he said. “They’re off the streets, and that’s the most important thing.”
Police are still seeking Eunique Brown and Scarbrough said anyone with information about the suspect or the robberies is asked to call the Troy Police Department at 566-0500 or the Secret Witness Line at 566-5555.
