Sara Townsend Douglas
Sara Townsend Douglas, 89, of Wylam, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Baptist Montclair Medical Center.
She was born in Pike County (Logton) on March 5, 1916. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Johnnie Douglas; her parents, Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) and A.G. (Gid) Townsend; her siblings, J.G. Townsend, Effie Lee T. Coston, Gerald A. Townsend, Voncile T. Chancellor, Homer C. Townsend; and one niece, Barbara C. Floyd.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Marilyn D. and Bob Drennen of Center Point and Stephanie D. and James Alexander of Clay; grandchildren, Douglas L. Drennen (Debra), Daphne L. Drennen and Zac H. Alexander; great-grandchildren, Joseph Ward and Amanda Ward Bowden; nieces Betty C. Handley, Faye C. Galloway, Kim T. Dillard, Brenda C. Redfield, Wanda T. Campbell and Peggy T. Phillips.
Mrs. Douglas was a member of the Bob Cook Sunday School class of Martin Memorial Methodist Church, Plant'N Hope Garden Club, Crescens Club, Wylam Civitan Club and the Thursday Morning Breakfast Club. Sara loved her church and her family, who said they will all miss here loving care and sweet ways.
