Sanford Frank Vinson

Services for Sanford Frank Vinson, 91, of Troy who died Sunday, September 07, 2003 in Troy will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday September 10th. at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Dr. John Brannon officiating.

Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr.Vinson was born October 29, 1911 in Barbour County. He was the son of the late Sanford Frank and Dora McCraney Vinson. Mr. Vinson farmed during his early years in Barbour County and in 1948 he moved his family to Troy where he owned and operated Vinson's Tractor Co. until his retirement in 1987. He was involved in farming and cattle production during these years. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Troy, a past president of the Troy Lions Club, past president of the Pike County Cattlemens Association, past president of the Alabama Farm Equipment Association, past member of the Alabama Dairy Commission and was associated with various agriculture improvement organizations. He dearly loved farming and especially the people involved there in.

Frank Vinson was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Wise Vinson in 1997.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Jerry F. and Amy Reagan Vinson of Troy; brother and sister-in-law, Max and Darcus Vinson of Louisville; brothers-in-law and wife, Charles Wise of Mobile and Earl and Mardelle Wise of Pensacola, Florida; sisters-in-law, Fairye Wise of Andalusia and Pat Wise of Little Rock, Arkansas; several cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Pallbearers will be Rich Stewart, Jack Corbitt, Ellis Carr, Greg Vinson, Ty Wise, Greg Wise, Blaine Stewart and David Reagan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy O. King, Tommy Strother, Doug Jackson, W. Roy Crow, Tom Savage, Judge Bob Bowden, Robert N. Rice, Rudoph Shelley, Bob Tolbert, David Conrad, Hugh Finley, Jr., Jim Owens, John McGarity, Ed Thomas, Greg McDougald and Glen Bullard.

The family request memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Inez C. Davis

Services for Inez C. Davis, 89, of Troy who died Saturday, September 06, 2003 at Pike Manor will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday September 09, 2003 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. W. O. Sanders officiating.

Burial will be in Goodhope Cemetery in the Goodhope Community under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, J. P. Davis and two sons, Joe B. and Billy E. Davis.

Survivors include a son, Charles E. Davis of Troy; two daughters, Mary Ann Jones of Troy and Martha Jane Dykes of Banks; daughter-in-law, Margie Davis of Dallas, Texas; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons.

W. W. (Woodrow) Carter

Services for W. W. (Woodrow) Carter, 89, of the Hamilton Crossroads Community in Brundidge who died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003 at Flowers Hospital will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday September 9th. at Hamilton Crossroads Church of Christ with the Revs. Doug Williams, Glen VanZant and Chris Barnett officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday Sept.

8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Carter was the founder and owner of Carter Brothers Manufacturing since 1936.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Carter.

Survivors include a wife of 66 years, Dessie Ree Carter of Brundidge; daughter and son-in-law, June and Stuart Arn of Brundidge; grandson, Jonathan Arn of Brundidge and a brother, Joe Carter of Ozark.

Elizabeth Carter

Services for Elizabeth Carter, 86, of Brundidge who died Sunday Sept. 7, 2003 at Ozark Health Care will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday September 9th. at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Burney Enzor officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday Sept. 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Carter, brother, Young Flowers, Jr., and her parents, Young Flowers, Sr. and Bessie Flowers.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Sammy and Monty Carter of Brundidge; granddaughter, Katie Carter of Brundidge; sister, Joyce Bell of Brundidge and several nieces, nephews and other close relatives.

Pallbearers will be Billy Bell, Fred Bell, Mike Carter, Steve Carter, James Fleming and James Gordon Flowers.

Charles E. Dunn

Services for Charles E. Dunn, 79, of Phenix City who died September 06, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital was at 11 a.m. Monday September 8th EDST at Bethany Baptist Church of Phenix City with the Revs. Mack Lowery and Jimmie Hobbs officiating.

Burial was in Lakeview Memory Gardens under the direction of Striffler Hamby Mortuary of Phenix City.

Visitation was form 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Dunn was born October 22, 1923 in Pike County to the late Mattie Edwards Dunn and Charles Thomas Dunn. He was a graduate of Brundidge High School and attended the Massey Business college. He was an army veteran of World War II and owner of American Fence Company. He was preceded in death by his sisters Eva Dunn and Edna Roughton.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Marshall Dunn of Phenix City; daughter and her husband, Cindy and George Irvin of Phenix City; sons, Terrell Dunn of Atlanta, Georgia and Jeff Dunn of Smiths Station; sisters, Pearl King of Fresno, California, Ann Morris of Phenix City and Mattie Clyde Brooks of Troy; brothers, Wilson Dunn, Owen Dunn and George Hilson Dunn all of Phenix City; five grandchildren, Jason Dunn, Clayton Dunn, Gabe Irvin, Jarrod Irvin and Tommy Johnson and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Keith Dunn, Ricky Dunn, Barry Dunn, Royce Morris, Dennis Dunn, and Randy Dunn.

Honorary pallbearers were Robert Dunn, Thomas Roughton, Duan Brooks, Bill Morris Roughton and George Tucker.
