The Dixie Angels looked a little rusty Saturday night in their first game since forming the all-star team.

Troy started the game with a 2-0 lead, but the Angels fell apart after that and lost 12-2 in four innings to Central-Baldwin. Troy will play Butler in an elimination game today at 6 p.m.

"I think we were a little nervous out there because we hadn't played a live game in a while," Troy coach Taron Thorpe said. "The kids got a little anxious."

Janqeja Booker led off the game for Troy with a single. She came around to score on Samantha Kitchens' bases-loaded fielder's choice. Tiffany Wingard followed that with an RBI single to score Courtney Wood with two outs and put Troy ahead 2-0.

The game turned in the bottom of the inning, though, as Troy could not get an out. The first nine Central-Baldwin batters reached base in the inning, and seven of them scored. Three batters were hit by pitches, two reached on errors and another reached because of fielder's interference on a base runner.

Meagan Durant hit a lead-off double for Central-Baldwin, and Adrienne Gates hit an RBI single. Durant, Allie Davis, Chrissy Darby, Gates, Christina Vaughn, Nikki Duncan and Kristin Plato scored runs for Central-Baldwin in the inning.

There were some highlights for Troy, however. The first inning could have been a lot worse, but Troy turned a double play with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Troy's offense sputtered after the first inning. Central-Baldwin retired the side in order in the second inning. Although the first two batters reached base in the third, the next three were retired and no Troy runner advanced to third.

However, the defense continued to give Troy hope. Central-Baldwin scored only one run in the second when Gates scored following a single. But an error in the third cost the Angels three more runs. Chrissy Darby, Daniels and Durant all scored in the third for Central-Baldwin.

Jordan Roland of Central-Baldwin scored a run in the fourth inning to end the game via the mercy rule.

"I was proud of our girls tonight," Thorpe said. "We got behind early, but we never gave up. The girls fought hard the whole way through."
