Orman Bridges Jr., who was a candidate for the Troy City Schools superintendent position, has withdrawn his application.

School board president Ron Pierce said Bridges has accepted a superintendent position at Athens City Schools in Athens, Ala.

Bridges was most recently the superintendent of the Amory School District in Amory, Miss.

Pierce said the rest of the interviews are still on schedule.

Monday, local candidate Linda Felton-Smith, principal at Charles Henderson High School, will be the first in the hot seat.

Felton-Smith has been principal at CHHS since 1996.

Before that, she was vice principal for one year.

She graduated from Alabama State University in 1976, received her master's from Troy State University-Dothan in 1985 and received her doctorate's in education from Auburn University in 1993.

Felton-Smith was an instructor and assistant professor at Auburn University and taught for Enterprise City Schools for 10 years.

On Tuesday, the first out-of-state candidate will be interviewed.

Herman Michael "Mickey" Schuber Jr. is currently superintendent of Dublin City Schools in Dublin, Ga.

His 34 years of experience include assistant superintendent of Dublin City Schools and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Assistant Superintendent for Operations at Douglas County Schools in Douglasville, Ga.

Schuber also served as Director of Secondary Instruction and Secondary Curriculum Coordinator at Douglas County Schools, where he also taught for almost 20 years.

Schuber received his degree from West Georgia College in 1969, a master's from Georgia State University in 1978 and a doctorate's from Georgia State University in 1987.

Schuber currently resides in Dublin, Ga.

Neither Felton-Smith nor Schuber could be reached for comment.

The interviews are set for 2-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday at City Hall in council chambers.

They are open to the public and will air live on Troy Cable Channel 52.

The public will not be able to address the superintendent candidate during the interview process.

The public will be able to speak with each candidate at a reception following each interview in the foyer of City Hall.

All are welcome to attend both the interview and the reception.
