Nicholas Sessions critically injured in one car accident
A Charles Henderson High School junior injured in a one car accident Monday was in critical condition and transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital Monday night.
Nicholas Heath Sessions, 17, of Troy was critically injured when he was ejected from his 1989 Ford F-150 pickup truck.
According to officials with the Alabama State Troopers Post in Dothan, the accident occurred at 4:10 p.m., about 20 miles north of Troy on County Road 7708.
Sessions was transported to Edge Regional Medical Center.
According to Dr. Linda Felton, principal at CHHS, Sessions underwent surgery at approximately 6:00 p.m. Monday night and that a neurosurgeon had been assisting doctors at ERMC.
Lifesaver Emergency Transport Service in Birmingham confirmed that they were transporting a patient from ERMC to UAB, but would not confirm the patients name.
At press time, Sessions had not arrived at UAB and his immediate condition was unknown.
Sessions is the son of Durwood and Melanie Sessions of Troy. Durwood rode in the Lifesaver helicopter with Sessions.
