Troy lands several commitments over weekend

Troy picked up several commits over the weekend, all on the defensive side of the ball.
Linebacker Terris Lewis from Linden played in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game. At 6-2, 210 pounds, Lewis is a versatile player who, with time, could be a very big, very athletic player for the Trojans defense.
James Mathis (Lowndes County, Ga.) will be a much needed addition to Troy’s interior defensive line. Mathis, 6-1, 260, could possibly make a move to end but Troy’s coaching staff will probably wait and see how he handles D-I competition before making that move.
Bob Jones teammates Rishad Goode and Marquez Pride also committed during their visit over the weekend. Goode (6-0, 195) is a cornerback that was recruited by several other schools (MTSU, Western Kentucky and Jacksonville State to name a few) and will enter with a deep and talented class of defensive backs. Pride (6-3, 250) was named the Huntsville Times Defensive Player of the Year as a defensive end. He’ll be a nice addition at that position for the Trojans and could really be a player in the future.
Troy signed another defensive end in Garrett Peek. Peek (6-3, 245) is a product of Stanhope Elmore so one would assume he has a decent feel for the game coming in.
All in all, Troy is putting together a nice recruiting class and while most of them won’t see the field next season, the future looks bright for the Trojans.
