Margaret Tolbert
Margaret Tolbert (Luna M. Tolbert), 88, who lived most of her life in Troy passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 in Panama City Beach, FL, in Provincial Assisted Living Center after a brief illness. She was born in Glenwood. She and her husband moved to Panama City, FL, in 2001, to be near their son, Gary. Margaret met her husband, Robert H. (Bob) Tolbert, in Nashville, TN during World War II and agreed to marry him on their third date. Their marriage lasted 68 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Troy and was also active in Garden and Music clubs. She loved working in her yard and in home decoration. For many years, Margaret read and studied books and magazines on landscaping and home decorating. Her friends knew her to excel in her two favorite hobbies.
Her parents, Claude Mack and Carmen Everage; a sister, Martha Eleanor; and her first born son, Robert (Rip) Tolbert, preceded her in death.
Rip and his wife, Martha, had two children – a son, Rob, and a daughter, Karen. Rob and his wife, Amber, live in Vienna, VA and have two sons, Houston and Carson. Karen married William (Billy) Powell and they live in Enterprise and have three children, a daughter, Kailey, and two sons, Will and Preston.
Margaret’s second son, Patrick, and his wife, Carole, live in Hayden, Idaho and have three sons. Their first son, Brett, and his wife, Karen, have a year old daughter, Christine. The other two sons are Seth and Graham.
Another son, Tom, and his wife, Karol, live in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and have a son named Kyle.
Margaret’s fourth son, Gary, lives in Panama City Beach, FL. Gary and his wife, Wendy, have two stepchildren – a daughter Jacquelyn and a son Kevin.
Margaret’s sister, Oma Jean, is married to Asa Dudley and lives in Brantley. They have a son, Ross who lives in Atlanta, GA.
Family members will greet friends at Green Hills Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday the 18th of January. Graveside services will follow in Green Hills Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Margaret will be buried next to her son, Robert A. (Rip) Tolbert, with the Rev. Dave (Doc) Kirby conducting the services.
