Services for Walter Crispbell Black, 73, of

Troy who died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at his home will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Father James Dean officiating.

Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Jeffcoat Black of Troy; son and his wife, Pete C. and Drew Black of Troy; daughter and her husband, Joan and Richard Pizitz of Birmingham; grandchildren, Joan Berryhill, Miriam Black, Elizabeth Black and Walter C. Black; great-grandchildren, Alex Berryhill, Corbitt Berryhill and Morgan Black; sister, Miriam Franklin of Jacksonville; father-in-law, Roy E. Jeffcoat.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Martins Catholic Church, Wiregrass Hospice, Troy Public Library or to your favorite charity.

Pallbearers are David Conrad, Jr., Allen Jones, Tony Kries, Mike Kries, Walter Black and Joe Faulk.

Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Kries, David Conrad, Sr., William Porter, Robert Lee, Harry Anderson, K. T. Cole, James Blake and Employees of Wiregrass Hospice.

Kathryn Goodson Lamb Meeks

Graveside services for Kathryn Goodson Lamb Meeks, 73, of Troy and a former resident of Dothan who died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Memory Hill Cemetery under the direction of Byrd Funeral Home of Dothan.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at 902 Martin Street in Dothan.

Mrs. Meeks was born Nov. 3, 1928, in Pike County and moved to Dothan at an early age where she resided most of her life. She lived in Troy for the past six years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thurston Lamb; two sisters, Willie B. Starling and Mary Coskrey; three brothers, Johnny Goodson, Rex Goodson and Queen Goodson.

Survivors include her husband, William Leon Meeks of Troy; son and his wife, Jerome and Joan Lamb of Dothan; grandson, Justin Lamb of Dothan; step-son, Andrew Meeks of Troy; two sisters and their husbands, Tinye and Winkie

Cook and Betty and Jim Duncan both of Dothan and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mervin Gambles, 68, of Troy died March 12, 2002, at V.A. Hospital in Tuskegee

Services will be held March 19,

2002, 1 p.m. at St. Paul AME Church in Troy with the

Rev. Nathaniel Copeland officiating.

Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill AME Zion Church Cemetery, Luverne, with military honors with George F. Grubbs

at noon at the funeral home.

He was born May 9, 1933, in Crenshaw County to Robert Gambles and Malissa Gambles. At an early age he joined Pleasant Hill AME Zion Church. after moving to Troy,

he joined St. Paul AME Church.

Survivors include his wife wife, Pearl Gambles; daughter, the Rev. Teresa L. Gambles; son, Tyrone Gambles; two sisters,

Flora Stringer and Ruth Collins; three brothers, Johnny Gambles, the Rev. W.C. Gambles and James E. Gambles; four brothers-in-law,
